Sarcoidosis presents with a diverse pallet of non-infectious, inflammatory manifestations in all organ systems. It is characterized by the growth of noncaseating granulomas, and it commonly affects the pulmonary system. Spontaneous recurrent pneumothorax is a rare manifestation of sarcoidosis. It may occur in both early or late disease stages. The exact underlying mechanism leading to pneumothorax in a setting of sarcoidosis remains unknown. Only a few research papers on this topic have been published. Treatment with corticosteroids may have a protective effect although more research is warranted as disparity on this issue persists. This paper presents a case of recurrent spontaneous pneumothorax in a patient with late-stage sarcoidosis and a review on current evidence.
